Remarks:
Wilco Aviation is thrilled to present a unique selection of Yakovlev 50 and 52 aircraft available in the UK. These aircraft are currently owned, operated, and showcased by the renowned Yakovlev display team, famously known as The Yakovlevs.
The Yakovlev Yak-50 (Russian: Яковлев Як-50) is a single-seat, all-metal aerobatic aircraft featuring a low-wing monoplane design with retractable main wheels and an exposed tail wheel. To optimise weight, its control surfaces are fabric-covered, and it is notably designed without flaps.
This specific Yak-50 is powered by a supercharged Vedeneyev M14PF engine producing 400 hp, paired with an MTV 9-250 propeller via a reduction gearbox. The aircraft’s landing gear, brakes, and starter system operate through compressed air, generated by an engine-driven compressor. Main and emergency air bottles are securely housed in the forward fuselage between the firewall and fuel tanks.
Aircraft G-YAKU has undergone significant upgrades to enhance performance and usability. Notable improvements include the installation of an automotive ignition system for more reliable starts, replacing heavy wiring and inverters with lightweight modern generator systems, reinforcing the tail wheel, modifying the oil drain for the lower cylinders, and fitting wing spades, among other refinements.
The Yakovlevs’ iconic paint scheme is a tribute to the 1941 Battle of Stalingrad, replicating the historic markings used to identify friendly aircraft during the conflict. This livery serves as a homage to the bravery of those who participated in the battle.
Renowned for its exceptional handling, the Yak-50 boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio and a robust, agile airframe. This aircraft has twice earned the title of World Aerobatic Champion and has been utilised as a military trainer in several countries.
All mandatory Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and Service Bulletins (SBs) have been fully complied with, and complete logs and records are available for inspection.
International shipping and packaging can be arranged by the skilled Yakovlev engineering team for an agreed-upon additional cost.
